Call Upon Our Lord

December 2nd 2007 – Sunday

Call upon Me, and ye shall go and pray unto Me, and I will hearken unto you.

Jeremiah 29:12

If your troubles aren’t big enough to pray about, then they certainly aren’t big enough to worry and fret about.

<><

How often are we faced with a struggle and we either handle with our own wisdom, or turn it over to God to handle but then don’t trust Him to actually help us? I have issues with this – driving in the weather on Saturday – I laid all my trust in my ability to drive and in my car – then I began praying when we slipped, slide and away!! I should have prayed ahead of time and then while I was driving carefully, keep my faith in God to get us to our destination safely. I definitely take driving for granted, “Oh my car is safe”, “the conditions are not that bad”, or “it will be OK if I speed a little, it is the speed the others are going”. Driving is definitely a dangerous and necessary luxury.

I look back on growing up in the Philippines – we walked pretty much every where and I may have grumbled about it, but for the most part I enjoyed walking, I had time to think and express myself along the way and I was able to be surrounded by God’s wonderful creation. If you look how cities are built now – you can’t walk anywhere safely – unless it is on a bike path that you have to drive to, or a tread mill, which if you are like me you have to drive to that too. Our worldly society is slowly killing us in so many different ways. There is another song by Casting Crowns (it’s a slow fade) about giving ourselves away slowly. It is very true – we don’t jump train tracks that are 3 miles away, we just very slowly begin making decisions and compromises in this world that lead us away from the path God had designed for us. The sad thing is a lot of my brothers and sisters in Christ don’t realize that they just switched tracks and will continue to go along with this track for quite some time. Once the evil one has a foot hold, his grip on us just keeps getting stronger and tighter. If the devil has any kind of grip on you, please confess it to your Heavenly Father, be open and honest with Him, He loves you so very much, He will comfort you and take away your pain, you are His very special child and He wants to spend time with you, go home He is waiting for you with open arms.

Oh Heavenly Father, all the sins that I have, am and will commit, you already know what I have done, what I am doing and what I will do for the rest of my life – there is absolutely no reason for me not to admit to You all the stupid and hurtful things that I have done. I know that You love me so very much and pursue me whenever I am not keeping my focus on You. You gave me Your Son, there is nothing greater than that. I have messed up in the past and You have forgiven me, I try to be careful not to bring shame to Your name now, but there are times I slip and I regret it later when I realize what I said or did was wrong. And I know that I will find new ways to screw up in the future. I am just so appreciative that You are able to discipline me in such a way that I feel loved and encouraged during the process. Thank You for being patient with me. Thank You for loving me. I want to bring You honor and glory in everything that I say and do – even my facial expression as I am walking around – let Your light shine through me to further Your kingdom. Please provide the opportunities, guidance and tools necessary to complete the tasks You have assigned for me today. I am eagerly waiting Your call to action. I love you very much…In Jesus’ Precious name. Amen.

Have a great day!!!

Meditation

December 3rd 2007 – Monday

My meditation of Him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the Lord.

Psalm 104:34

Father, may today be exciting, as You can make everyday things special. Take full control of my life and make it joyous! Amen.

<><

I think that God has blessed with seeing what He makes exciting in my everyday life – what do you think? LOL!!

I have said this before “If you are not having fun, what is the point of doing something?” Now, allow me to define fun for you: it is anything that brings you any kind or amount of enjoyment. For instance, I enjoy reading God’s Word; sometimes I am very intently studying it because I am interested in the topic I am learning about. This brings me closer to God and understanding Him better, I am ecstatic when God’s Word speaks to me, and therefore – FUN!!! I also have fun singing and praising God through music. I also have fun at the grocery store – all the possibilities. I have a blast taking the boys hiking at Starved Rock – reminds me of the Philippines. Oh, talk about bringing me closer to God – that would be my ultimate fun package galore!! Me, my boys, God’s Word surrounded by God’s wonderful creation – Heaven!!! Granted God’s beauty is everywhere we look – but I really like it better when the trees grow where God planted them instead of some high priced landscape artist.

Who has seen the movie “Cars” – there is a scene wherein “Stickers” learns about Carburetor County’s history. He begins to realize how special it is and why the people don’t leave this little town. You are able to see for a moment what the land looked like before the new interstate was built. Sometimes it is great to take the fast and direct route to get to your destination, but when it comes to life it is really important to enjoy the journey.

Oh God, we rush and rush always thinking that when we get caught up we will stop to smell the roses. God remove this instinct in me, I want to absorb Your Word and have You apply it to my life. I want to cherish the children You blessed me with as I am responsible for their growth and development. I want to spend the moments You provide with Your children, for encouragement, support and love. I want to make sure that the time I spend on this earth brings You honor and glory. You are my focus, as long as I keep my eyes on You everything else will fall into place according to Your will. Please help me to take the time to spend time with You deliberately. Help me to recognize the evil one at work in my life so I am not lead astray. Oh Heavenly Father, help me to pray the way I am supposed to, time always seems to be a constraint, reveal the balance so that I am able to devote this time with You. There are so many that I want to pray for properly, there are activities that I know You are drawing me toward, help me to realize the steps and growth that You have in store for me. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Love you all,

Belief

December 4th 2007 – Tuesday

These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

1 John 5:13

Thank You for the gift of eternal life to those who believe. Give me the courage to share this promise with someone today. Amen.

<><

We are truly blessed to be chosen as a child of God – I can’t imagine going through life without loving Him!! I can remember what my life was like before Christ – I will not go back there again!!!! Coming to the realization that all people will not be saved is huge, it really saddens me that there will be people who will never know Him, feel His love, receive His comfort, see His joy and worship Him. Our hearts are designed to feel for the lost and hurting, thus prompting us to jump into action in His name. Yeah – what an amazing experience – giving to those around us, planting seeds, encouraging other believers to step out in faith, comforting the lost and witness to them. God gives us so many opportunities to serve one another, and it brings me great joy to see just a glimpse of what Jesus must have seen when He served us, spoke to us, helped us, comforted us, and then saved us. I look forward to seeing His face, to be in the presence of God in all of His glory and majesty. I know that it will be so beautiful; my feeble earthly description would not do the sight justice.

Oh Heavenly Father, thank You for choosing me. There is not anything that I can do or say to express how much You mean to me and how grateful I am for Your selection of a sinner like me. God You knew me before You created the earth that I am standing on, and You loved me then, You love me now, God You are so amazing and wonderful. Your Son is the only Teacher that I require. I am humbled and honored when You place a task in front of me, I am eager to serve You. Lord, I pray that You place someone in my path today that needs to hear Your Truth. Lord, please give me the wisdom and words to further Your kingdom, help me to be compassionate and give me the opportunity to bring You honor in glory in all that I do. In Jesus’ Precious Name. Amen.

Drawing Nearer

December 5th 2007 – Wednesday

Draw nigh to God, and He will draw nigh to you.

James 4:8

O God, I humbly come before you. Purify my heart today. Amen.

<><

Hello – knock, knock – is anyone home – I would like to be invited in – Hello anyone there? God knocking at the door of your heart! Are you home to answer Him, or are you preoccupied with worldly things?

OK – so if you are a true believer and you have a hunger and a thirst for Him and His Word – How are you able to resist these impulses to spend time with Him? I have my scheduled devotion time with God every morning, now I can intentionally choose sleep because my flesh is telling me to stay in bed (have done this many times), but then I miss the opportunity to be with Him in complete silence, to be with Him without any interruptions, and I am able to feel His presence and hear His voice; which makes me crave it more!! When I don’t get my time with God (I am such a selfish person – if you don’t already know) I walk around with such an empty feeling, I literally have a physical reaction to this – weird I know. God usually wakes me up around 4AM – don’t have to get ready till 5 – but I am able to be still and know that He is God! I love being filled with His Word and His love!! Alright the tank is full now it is time to face the world!!

Have you ever had a moment where in you were filled with a compelling need to spend time in His Word – you pray and pray until you were able to hold the Bible in your hand and then the joy (maybe a sigh of relief) you felt when you opened it. There are times in my lovely daily schedule that I receive this anxiousness and I have a terrible time concentrating on the earthly task at hand, because I have this over whelming call. Now, granted when I get this feeling, there is a reason behind it – someone around me is in need or it’s me that is in danger. I used to bring my Bible to work with me (on 3rd shift) because I had time to spend in His word and devote to prayer during breaks and in silence. I don’t have this opportunity anymore, sad, I know. LOL, God has given me other opportunities to fellowship, which I enjoy immensely.

Now, please do not misunderstand – I struggle with this too – my time is tight and I can throw every possible excuse at you explaining why I can’t seem to read and learn on a regular basis. But I would not be completely honest with you – there is time in the car, Jordan can read and I can listen. There are opportunities everywhere we just have to look hard enough to see them. I currently have 2 books in my car, patiently waiting for me to read them. The first is Encouragement – I have 10 good minutes every day when I get off work on time (this doesn’t always happen) and pick Jordan up from school – I am deliberately taking this time for this book.

Then I have this wonderful idea of working for the Lord all day long, being able to read the Bible without fear, taking time to pray properly instead of just writing down a name and then trying to do it later, spending time with those in need without having to worry about time constraints and work schedules, but then I think – would I become complacent if I actually had the opportunity to live this ideal life in my head? Would God’s presence and voice diminish because I am with Him all the time? Honestly, I don’t think so; because I am already with Him all the time, I really do not believe that I would loose sight of God! But I do think that I would probably take it for granted. Sometimes I have to force myself to get up and go – once I am up, going is not such a problem. Just food for thought, I hope I got your noodle going.

Love you all!!

Light of the World

December 6th 2007 – Thursday

I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

John 8:12

Thank You Jesus for lighting my path. Guide me in my thoughts and actions today. Amen.

<><

Have you ever been in the situation wherein you are in a strange place when the power goes out? Your other senses perk up to compensate for not being able to see where you are and what is around you, but you are a fish out of water without the ability to see. Chances are you stand there for a minute looking around for any kind of light – your head is spinning trying to see anything, then slowly your eyes begin to adjust to the lack of light.

I remember having frequent power outages in the Philippines during monsoon season – I love the sound of the rain – we always had candles in strategic areas of the house for such an emergency. After the first few storms of the season we (my sisters and I) learned to use the light generated from the lightening to guide our path if we were in a section of the house which wasn’t used often (like the basement). I remember being cold, scared and alone and wanting to hurry up and get upstairs and be with my family. The fact that I was home helped with the familiarity of my surroundings but I can attest that I still knocked things over and stubbed my toe!! So relying on my own knowledge and experience – I still stumbled!!!

Now I would like you to imagine standing on a stage, the auditorium is dark and silent you are unable to see past your nose and your voice echoes from the acoustics. Then all of a sudden there is a spot light, you are able to see where you standing and your immediate surroundings. Since this light has been placed on you, your walk is easier and more fluid and you are less fatigued and not banged up from stumbling over obstacles. As a further bonus you are able to gain ground, confidence, and knowledge and trust while you are in the light. You are also joined by others like you – so the light’s reach is expanded because you are walking together.

Out of these 2 scenarios – which would you prefer? Cold, alone, scared and only able to see in spurts depending on the lightning – Or in the spotlight where you are able to see consistently, have a warm fuzzy feeling most of the time, surrounded by people that love you, being directed by our Almighty Father and knowing that you are protected. The catch is to stay in the light, venturing too far from the light is where we get into trouble (I have this problem). I think I know where God is leading me, so I run ahead, then when I look back to check to see if He is still behind me, I see that look from my Dad’s face! Now, I am 3 as of November 2nd, so parents know what I am talking about. 9 out of 10 times I will run back to Him and we both will have open arms and smiles on our faces. When I did something naughty, I still run back, rushing to be in the arms that love me and then stay there until I confess my sins and am forgiven heal and then behave for a few days. LOL!!!

Oh God, thank You for loving me, for choosing me, for your pursuing me, and for being who You are!!! I have been so lost and now that You have found me, I am so in love with You, You are everything that I could possibly need or want. You provide so much for me, and I am so very grateful. I am amazed that the Creator of all wants me – I am so unworthy of Your love and Your grace but I know that Your love will endure for all eternity and I want to follow You forever. You are so Holy and Wonderful my simple words will never be enough to express Your Majesty. God Your gift of Jesus to bring me closer to You and to teach me Your ways is such a blessing and then You allowed Him to die for my sins, God Your sacrifice was huge. I am dumbfounded at the depth of Your love and grace, I appreciate all that You have done. God, You don’t stop there either, Jesus continues to light the path that You have designed for me, You sent Your Holy Spirit to guide me and then You converse with me too. I am completely humbled by all that You have done. In Jesus’ Precious Name. Amen.

Love you all!!!

The Word

December 7th 2007 – Friday

The Word of the Lord endureth for ever.

1 Peter 1:25

Thank You, Lord, that Your message of salvation is for all generations! Help me to study Your Word so that it remains in my heart. Amen.

<><

God’s Word is Alive – so it is not like reading any other book on the planet! God reveals a variety of lessons to us, depending on our walk with Him and what direction He has designed for us. I trust Him with whatever I am facing, because I know that I am not facing it alone. If I am troubled my first reaction is to be surrounded by God’s Word – I want to be drowning in it – because I know that He is the only one capable of helping me thorough. God is with me always (happy or sad) and His Word reminds me, encourages me and reinforces this fact in my life. Now when I am happy – I can worship up a storm – and it is infectious – my poor kids!! I am able to lift His name and just glorify Him with everything that I have - to the point of bursting with joy!!! As a direct result of my actions/desire to be in the Word, my children witness this behavior and thus my faith in action is passed down to them. Now, majority of the time the kids and I crank the music and have way too much fun praising God!!! We also have our daily devotionals, and then we have spontaneous and planned prayer. Fellowship is a great opportunity to learn – so the kids are plugged in too. The greatest gift I could possibly give my boys, is a home built with a firm foundation of faith in God’s love!!!

God, You love me so freely and You have provided Your grace and Your Word for me to know You better. You have given me the opportunity to draw closer to You. I am amazed by the depth of Your love and the faithfulness You show me each and every day. Lord, I pray that I follow Your will for my life, and that the fruits of Your Spirit within me is pleasing to You. Lord, bless me with an opportunity to further Your kingdom, encourage Your children and draw closer to You today. In Jesus Holy and Precious Name. Amen.

Love you,

Thanksgiving

December 8th 2007 – Saturday

Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers.

Ephesians 1:16

Don’t let me get so busy that I forget to show gratefulness to others. Help me to especially appreciate the loved ones You have given to me. Amen.

<><

I really believe that the entire section of this scripture should be read!

Thanksgiving and Prayer

Eph 15 For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, 16I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. 17 I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. 18 I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, 19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength, 20 which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, 21 far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. 22 And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, 23 which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.

This is power packed scripture that we can model in our personal prayer life including ourselves and others as recipients.

Please remember when we pray – we should come to Him with confidence and be persistent.

Eph 3:11: according to his eternal purpose which he accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord. 12 In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence.

Hebrews4:16: Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

Have a beautiful and wonderful weekend!!

Love you,

Righteousness

December 9th 2007 – Sunday

And the fruit of the righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.

James 3:18

Father, help me to remember that planting seeds and waiting for a harvest requires time and patience. Amen.

<><

Our hearts are where God dwells and where these “seeds are planted”. I wonder if I perform all the tasks required to sow and then reap a good crop. Granted I am not a farmer, and the plants in my house have enough trouble – so my experience sowing seeds is not vast. I sometimes reflect and ask God to reveal areas where I require assistance – have I prepared good soil for Him to work with, am I maintaining that soil so that He will be able to bear fruit, or am I resting on my laurels and becoming complacent in certain areas in my life?

For as the soil makes the sprout come up and a garden causes seeds to grow, so the Sovereign LORD will make righteousness and praise spring up before all nations. Isaiah 61:11

I can tell you that God will have to remind me from time to time about a certain weakness I have. I am very thankful that I am able to call upon God to help me through these tough times, and over time certain issues slowly loose their hold on me. I invite God in and cling to Him when I am struggling, allowing Him to use my weakness as an opportunity to work in my life for His glorify. There are generally 3 things I try to remember when I sin: Confession, repentance and gratitude. I have to make a conscious effort to avoid certain situations that my flesh is tempted. Then there are times where I am caught by surprise and I fail miserably.

O Gracious and Heavenly Father, You know me and my weaknesses. I pray that You will use these moments to reveal areas that are hidden from me so that I will be able to invite You in, to do Your work with in me, so that You are brought honor and glory. Lord, I am so flawed and require Your forgiveness and direction every day. In all that I do, say, feel, and think I want to be a good reflection of my Heavenly Father, and as long as I am immersed in Your Word and continuing to walk with You, I count my blessings that I have been chosen. In Jesus’ Precious Name. Amen.

Love you all!!!

Speaking in Love

December 10th 2007 – Monday

He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life.

Proverbs 13:3

O Lord, life is too short to be rude. Help me to be courteous to those around me today. Amen.

<><

Ephesians 4:29-32

29Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. 30And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. 32Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

So very often we are in situations where in God’s light has an opportunity to shine and our flesh takes over and blows the opportunity to smithereens!! I did this recently, I could have agreed with Jordan, but I didn’t I took the route of comparing 2 of God’s children on the basis of outward beauty. I should have known better, and I had no place judging another by a picture, and what a great achievement that my sons witnessed by their mother – it was one of those moments you wish you could wipe from everyone’s memory and sink into a corner. I felt that I had done wrong – after the fact – and tried to cover it up too – explain my way out of it – it was just horribly bad!!!

I then confessed my sin to the people involved and apologized. I have confessed to God and asked for forgiveness of my sin. I needed that time to pray, and ask the Holy Spirit to keep a watchful eye on the words/thoughts about others. I also had to thank God for this learning experience and further strengthening of our relationship. Granted, this reprimand is not fun, but I think I have learned enough about God to know this is one way that He draws me closer. This is a way for our communication to remain open and free flowing and it is a reminder that I am dependant on Him. Jesus had to shed His blood so that I may be saved, and to receive His grace and forgiveness is amazing.

Have a wonderful day!!

Discipline

December 11th 2007 – Tuesday

Whoso loveth instruction loveth knowledge.

Proverbs 12:1

Give me a trusting heart Lord and the wisdom to depend only upon You. Amen.

<><

Hebrews 12:4-11

4In your struggle against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood. 5And you have forgotten that word of encouragement that addresses you as sons:
"My son, do not make light of the Lord's discipline,
and do not lose heart when he rebukes you,
6because the Lord disciplines those he loves,
and he punishes everyone he accepts as a son."[a]

7Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father? 8If you are not disciplined (and everyone undergoes discipline), then you are illegitimate children and not true sons. 9Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of our spirits and live! 10Our fathers disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, that we may share in his holiness. 11No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. Proverbs 3:5

I love how God’s Word reinforces God’s love for us, and gives us clear expressions of His love for us. As a parent, I have expectations for my boys because I know what they are capable of. I believe that attitude makes a big difference in the disciplining process – if Jordan is still very upset, he is not going to hear a single word I say – but if I allow him time to cool off and then approach him, I am apt to discover the root cause of the issue. Same with me and God – He knows when I am open to listening and taking His instruction to heart, thus a lasting change is made and I am usually grateful for His eye opening experience. He is equipping me for something special, He has carefully blessed me with talents to accomplish this goal, and each time I am disciplined, I know that I am that much closer to the finish line. And pleasing my Heavenly Father, walking on the path He chose for me, and helping/loving others along the way is so very exciting for me.

Have you tried to see your life from a different perspective lately? You might be interested to see what God reveals to you!!!!

Have a safe day!!!

Deliver You

December 12th 2007 – Wednesday

Even to your old age I am He…I will carry, and will deliver you.

Isaiah 46:4

Thank You for being my God throughout my lifetime! I desire to know You more in the years ahead. Amen.

<><

There were times in my past wherein I have really thought that I could do it all, and make everyone I loved happy. It was tough for me to realize that God is the only one able to accomplish both of these tasks. God is the only one capable of doing it all at the same time. He is invincible and my very favorite super hero!!! The part I struggle with is making people happy – I still have this impulse - I know that a person can not be happy 24/7 (I know that some of you are shocked – I do get cranky too). Trials come and try to weigh us down, and emotions are a constant rollercoaster, and situations arise to create issues, but these are learning experiences. God is the only one able to look into someone’s heart and know what is going on. And He is the only one capable of working there and accomplishing His tasks. I do know that God is in charge and He will show me the way He wants me to be helpful!!!

When I came to Christ – I had failed miserably as an earthling – the awesome realization that God had been walking right beside me and carrying me. This blows me away!! I know that God loves me dearly! He pursued me before I knew Him! He watched over me! He was right there with me when I finally cried out for Him to come into my life! His Word tells me that He will not leave me or forsake me! (Deut. 31:6, Deut 31:8, Joshua 1:5, Hebrews 13:5) He continues to draw me closer to Him! As I walk with Him, He lights the path! He speaks to me! He blesses me with His wonders! He disciplines me! He gives me tools and opportunities to further His kingdom! He does too much for me!!!! And I know that in the future – He will be there too – our relationship with grow and I will mature in His ways until the day that I get to see His face!!! AMEN!!

Oh Heavenly Father, I long to see Your face. I long to know You more. I want to praise and worship You more often than I do. I crave time spent in Your Word, learning about You and Your ways. I love spending time with Your children, it is so uplifting. God, You are Awesome and I thank You for all the blessings that You have given. I am so glad that You are with me every step of the way – You light up my life and I am so grateful!! In Jesus’ Precious Name. Amen.

Prayer

December 13th 2007 – Thursday

When thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret.

Matthew 6:6

I have been driven many times to my knees by the overwhelming conviction that I had nowhere else to go. – Abraham Lincoln

<><

Matthew 6:5-15

Prayer
5"And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. 6But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. 7And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. 8Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

9"This, then, is how you should pray:
" 'Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
10your kingdom come,
your will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
11Give us today our daily bread.
12Forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.[a]' 14For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

AMEN!!!

Love you all!!!

Joy

December 14th 2007 – Friday

I…finish my course with joy…which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

Acts 20:24

Lord, sometimes I get discouraged. Thank You for Your faithfulness and perseverance. Help me to stay joyful and keep sight of the “finished task.” Amen.

<><

It bothers me that people take out the words of the Bible and present Scripture with “…”, but then again it prompt me to find the whole Scripture to see what it really said. I guess it bothers me that people impose there own desires on Scripture – I have no idea what motives they had for doing it, but it leads me to believe that somehow that God’s message is altered in some way. So there is good and bad for this instance – I searched for the Truth, but what about a brand new Christian who is still very green and takes the “…” at face value and has a misconstrued message. Talk about an opportunity for the devil to twist things around.

Here is the background for this, I urge you to read the whole story. Paul's Farewell to the Ephesian Elders – Acts 20:13-38

22"And now, compelled by the Spirit, I am going to Jerusalem, not knowing what will happen to me there. 23I only know that in every city the Holy Spirit warns me that prison and hardships are facing me. 24However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the gospel of God's grace.

Acts 20: 22-24

Better picture – don’t you think?

Love you!!!

Rejoice

December 15th 2007 – Saturday

Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O Lord, in the light of Thy countenance.

Psalm 89:15

Light of the world, let Your light be the center of our Christmas activities. Amen.

<><

I know that this is the time of year wherein a lot of people who normally don’t come to church have an opportunity to visit and listen to the Word. Lord, I pray their eyes, ears and hearts are open to hear the Good News. I pray that You plant the seed in fertile soil so that it may grow. Lord, I pray that we let Your light shine and You prepare our hearts, words and actions so that new eyes watching us may see that Your Truth is not just for Christmas day, but for every single day that we are here, patiently waiting to see Your face!!! Lord, I pray that we are given the opportunity to welcome visitors, so that they may return. I pray that we are given the opportunity to encourage those around us, whether they have not accepted You yet or they are a new Christian to grow in their walk with You. I pray that You bless us with Your peace and You remove our stress. Please bless us with joy for the celebration of Jesus’ birth!!! In Jesus’ Precious Name. Amen.

Have a wonderfully joyous preparation for Christ’s birth!!!!

Responding to Those in Need

December 16th 2007 – Sunday

I go…unto God my exceeding joy…upon the harp will I praise Thee…Why art thou cast down, O my soul? ...hope in God.

Psalm 43:4-5

Father, give me Your heart and use me to reach out to someone in need. To some, this season brings much loneliness and pain. Lead me to the ones who need to experience the joy of Your companionship. Amen.

<><

Psalm 43:4-5:

4 Then will I go to the altar of God,
to God, my joy and my delight.
I will praise you with the harp,
O God, my God.

5 Why are you downcast, O my soul?
Why so disturbed within me?
Put your hope in God,
for I will yet praise him,
my Savior and my God.

Pretty powerful message, don’t you think?

Oh Heavenly Father please prepare my heart to be sensitive to those around me. Lord, please provide the wisdom and words to help them along, drawing them closer to You. Lord I pray for the families that are hurting and struggling right now with questions and doubts. Please send Your peace to them so that they have the opportunity to celebrate Jesus’ birth. Remind them that You provide everything that we could possibly need and help them lay their trust in You. You are in control of my life and I give You Jordan and James to protect and love. You do a better job than I could. Lord draw them closer to You and teach them Your ways. In Jesus’ precious name. Amen.

Have a wonderful day!!

Freely Given

God woke me up with a specific phrase rolling in my head “freely given” over and over again I kept recalling these 2 words. I went to my Bible and saw that freely is only referred to 4 times. It wasn’t until I got to the last passage that I knew what God was trying to impress upon me.
Grace was given to us so very freely, and that gift was so very costly to our Heavenly Father. God had to go to such extreme measures to get us to wake up and smell the blessings. I know from personal experience that I was not an easy listener. I had always prided myself with being self sufficient and independent – the only person I could count on for anything was myself! I was stubborn to a fault. Now, I am determined for another purpose, God’s Will for my life. Complete 180. I am so very thankful that God pursued me so that I could experience His gifts in my life.
Ephesians 1
1Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God,
To the saints in Ephesus,[a] the faithful[b] in Christ Jesus:

2Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Spiritual Blessings in Christ
3Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. 4For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love 5he[c] predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— 6to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. 7In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace 8that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding. 9And he[d] made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, 10to be put into effect when the times will have reached their fulfillment—to bring all things in heaven and on earth together under one head, even Christ.

11In him we were also chosen,[e] having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, 12in order that we, who were the first to hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory. 13And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, 14who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession—to the praise of his glory.

I really enjoy verse 2 – what a wonderful blessing to pray for another!!! So very short and sweet but definitely power packed!!!

As we get closer to the Christmas celebration, I am reminded of all the lessons Jesus has taught us while He was walking on earth. The compassion that He demonstrated by coming to earth in the first place, Holy and Powerful and yet so vulnerable. As mothers, having just delivered our little precious baby, we hold them for the very first time, a sense of utter love and devotion sweeps over us, and without any hesitation we accept this responsibility. I can not even imagine how Mary and Joseph actually felt.

Love you all!!!

The Word is God

December 17th 2007 – Monday

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

John 1:1

You, Lord Jesus, are the Supreme Authority; my soul praises You. Amen.

<><

Do you remember the first time that you realized that God’s Truth, His Word, Holy Scripture is ALIVE? It is pretty amazing when the Holy Spirit moves within you. I try to pray before even opening the Bible for the Holy Spirit to prepare my heart for God’s Word. I believe that this is an important step before partaking in God’s Word. I love inviting God into a time of devotion and meditation; I seem to get more out of it.

Have you ever been rushed but you did not want to give up your time with God? So you are sitting there trying very hard to concentrate and your mind is really thinking about all the stuff you have to do before running out the door. I have done his many times – kid needs to get dressed, lunch packed, car warmed up, other kid wake up for school, purse, phone, coffee, etc!!! That is why we need to have a block of time dedicated to God for this purpose and it really depends on your personal schedules.

Oh Heavenly Father, thank You so very much for all that You reveal to me as I spend time with You. You bring so many lessons to light, and I am able to understand the message and take it to heart. I love learning about You and all that You have done for me. You are a wonderful giver and great at handling situations!!! God I ask You to help me to concentrate on You more often - I don’t do it enough – worldly things seem to spring up at the most inopportune times. Lord, I pray that I am able to devote time to You and I am able to handle situations quickly and the way You desire so that I am able to take the time to be with You. In Jesus Precious Name. Amen.

Jesus' Birth Foretold

December 18th 2007 - Tuesday

Fear not, Mary…thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a Son…Jesus. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest…And He shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever.

Luke 1:30-33

O Jesus, thank You for coming to earth miraculously! I look forward to Your eternal reign! Amen.

<><

The Birth of Jesus Foretold
26In the sixth month, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, 27to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin's name was Mary. 28The angel went to her and said, "Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you."

29Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. 30But the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God. 31You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus. 32He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, 33and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever; his kingdom will never end."

34"How will this be," Mary asked the angel, "since I am a virgin?"

35The angel answered, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called[c] the Son of God. 36Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be barren is in her sixth month. 37For nothing is impossible with God."

38"I am the Lord's servant," Mary answered. "May it be to me as you have said." Then the angel left her.

Glad Tidings

December 19th 2007 – Wednesday

The angel of the Lord appeared unto him…saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife…she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call His name JESUS: for He shall save His people from their sins.

Matthew 1:20-21

Thank You Lord, for sending Your Son to save us from our sins! Amen.

Nothing is Impossible

December 20th 2007 – Thursday

For with God nothing shall be impossible.

Luke 1:37

Thank You Lord for giving us miracles to enjoy! I desire faith that looks beyond the “impossible.” Amen.

<><

Our Heavenly Father is just so amazing and so loving. As we approach Christmas morning, I think of a vulnerable little fragile baby being born in a cold stable with animals surrounding them. Jesus. Jesus knew what needed to be accomplished on earth. Jesus came anyway!! Jesus loves us so very much that He gave His life up for us. As we celebrate His birth, I am energized to celebrate His life. I want to walk with Him, see what He is showing me, and listen to Him talk. I love the opportunities that He provides to just soak Him in.

Lord, I pray for more opportunities to draw closer to You. You provide all the strength and wisdom that I could possibly need to walk with You. And You bless me with so many gifts. You paid the ultimate price for me and I am so very grateful. In Your Holy Name. Amen.

God's Bounty

January 2, 2008 – Wednesday

For how great is His goodness, and how great is His beauty!

Zechariah 9:17

Father, help me to see the beauty of today and to be thankful for what You have provided! Amen.

<><

God has provided so much more than I could ever realize; and He continues to give it so generously. I am in awe of Him and all that His given. I am so blessed with family and friends that He has provided!! I am just so content and at peace with my life right now, even with the daily struggles and with new and exciting opportunities to grow. My awe is so profound I just want to soak it all in and not miss a thing.

Jesus, Your life on earth demonstrates actually how much You love me. I learn about You with the reading of Your Truth, but it is so much more than just reading, it is meditation, prayer and communing with You, my Heavenly Father, and the Holy Spirit moving with in me. Jesus, I can not express the love I feel, the joy You bring to my life, and the hope and courage You bring so that I can walk with You every single day of my life. Lord, I pray that You will continue to speak to me as we continue to build our relationship. In Your Holy Name. Amen.

Love you all!!!

Wait on the Lord

January 3, 2008 – Thursday

Therefore turn thou to thy God: keep mercy and judgment, and wait on thy God continually.

Hosea 12:6

Father, help me to take the time during these days in January to sit quietly and to wait before Thee. Amen.

<><

Psalm 37
3 Trust in the LORD and do good;
dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.

4 Delight yourself in the LORD
and he will give you the desires of your heart.

5 Commit your way to the LORD;
trust in him and he will do this:

6 He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn,
the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.

7 Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him;
do not fret when men succeed in their ways,
when they carry out their wicked schemes.

Psalm 46
10 "Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth."

Amen!!!!

Wisdom

January 5, 2008 – Saturday

Wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul.

Proverbs 2:10

Dear Lord, grant me wisdom in all that I do, so that I can experience joy in my life. Amen.

<><

Heavenly Father, please grant me wisdom and discernment with the opportunities that You place in my path. Have the Holy Spirit guide me along the way so that I can handle each situation the way You desire. Father, I do not want to rely on my own understanding – You have and continue to help me grow in Your Word and in a wonderful relationship with You – but I always want and need to rely on You for all things. Lord, I do not wish to be complacent or insensitive to Your direction, my focus is on You and it shall remain there. You are so wise and magnificent in Your understanding of my human nature, I am very grateful that You are always present in my life, just knowing that You are there gives me energy to keep pressing on. Father, I love You so much and thank You for Jesus!!! In Your Holy Name. Amen.

Casting Your Cares

January 6, 2008 – Sunday

Casting all you care upon Him, for He careth for you.

1 Peter 5:7

Father, light up the small duties of this day. May they shine with the beauty of Your presence. May I find glory in the small common tasks before me. Amen.

<><

The first thought that comes to mind about “Casting my cares” usually is directed to all the irritating and frustrating things in my life. These are not limited to financial issues, working relationships, or even Jordan and James misbehaving. I have also cast some of the most wonderful blessings upon Him, namely my boys – He can care for them through out the day and night where I am unable to, He is able to call them and work within there heart where ever they are, He is the only one I trust completely with my children!!! Sometimes I am so filled with love for them that I honestly think my heart is going to explode! Knowing this feeling, I wonder if it is how God feels for each of His children. Granted God’s version of this feeling is magnified many times over, and the last thing I want to do is trivialize His feelings. But as we grow in Him, we are molded to be more like Christ, right? So, I am curious if this is a human dose of what God feels for me?

Heavenly Father, You have given me so very much, I am truly blessed by You. I am very thankful for our relationship and I continue to hunger and thirst for You. God, as I am drawn closer to You I continue to have Your truths revealed, which puts my mind, heart and soul at ease. I am so excited that You are interested in each and every aspect of my life and I invite You in to begin working where I need improvement. God, You have brought me down a wonderful path, I enjoy speaking with You and fellowshipping with Your children. Please continue to give me opportunities to introduce You to the lost, and supporting Your children along the way. In Jesus Precious Name. Amen.

Wait on the Lord

January 7, 2008 – Monday

Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and He shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.

Psalm 27:14

Lord, help me to be patient all my days, as I await Your promised help. Amen.

<><

O God!!! I so needed this!!!! As some of you may know – I am learning to wait upon God and His direction. He has placed some people and situations in my life that I have absolutely no idea what I am supposed to do. I have always been self sufficient and independent, so this is a growing experience for me. Any kind of direction from the Holy Spirit or if God is telling me something – I am very alert to it so that I am able to move accordingly. The last thing that I want to do is screw things up. I am very thankful for godly friends to help and support me along the way.

I love you all very much!!!

Love One Another

January 8, 2008 – Tuesday

And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you.

1 Thessalonians 3:12

Lord, may I look for the special qualities that are present in each person that I meet today and may I give You the thanks for them. Amen.

<><

How many times do we perceive people from the first impression? The first impression is generally wrong anyway – so why do we follow this instinct? If only we would take the time to really get to know the person and pray over the relationship, can you imagine the possibilities? I believe that there are certain people sent to us for very specific reasons, and I am so very thankful for the relationships that are developing. I am so very blessed!! I challenge you today to pray for an opportunity to see someone in your life from God’s perspective, and then ask Him to lead you into a bountiful relationship.

Oh Heavenly Father, we are here on earth for such a short time, and yet we take so many things for granted. Lord, thank You so very much for Your children that You have strategically placed in my path!! I have learned and grown from each of them, and continue to do so. Lord I pray that these relationships are not just one sided; I want to be beneficial to them as well. I want them to see how much they actually mean to me. Lord, help me to express love to them. I also pray for new opportunities to love and encourage, in any way that You see fit. Lord, please use me for Your divine purpose. In Jesus Precious Name. Amen.

Love you all!!!!

My Keeper

January 4, 2008 – Friday

The Lord is thy keeper…thy shade upon thy right hand. The Lord shall…preserve thy soul. The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth.

<><

Psalm 121
A song of ascents.
1 I lift up my eyes to the hills—
where does my help come from?

2 My help comes from the LORD,
the Maker of heaven and earth.

3 He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber;

4 indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.

5 The LORD watches over you—
the LORD is your shade at your right hand;

6 the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.

7 The LORD will keep you from all harm—
he will watch over your life;

8 the LORD will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.

Amen!!!!

Psalm 139: 23-24

Father, free me of the anxieties I have today and show me anything that disappoints you so that I can follow Your will. Amen.

<><

Oh Heavenly and Gracious Father, please reveal the areas in my life wherein I need to invite You in and then allow You to work within me. I want to be molded and disciplined by You, so that I am able to please You. I am motivated to bring You honor and glory in each and every thought and action that I am involved with. Lord please instill in me Your perspective, I would like to look on others through Your eyes. Help me to achieve the potential that You have designed for me. In Jesus Name. Amen.

1 Samuel 12:24

Lord, help me to speak the truth and allow the opportunity to share the gospel with someone today. Amen.

<><

Oh Father, You have done more for me than I could ever imagine. So many things that I don’t even realize, You love me with such completeness. Lord, I pray that You direct my life and lead me down the path that You have designed. God I pray that You place situations and opportunities in front of me to help me grow in You and bring You honor and glory in the process. Lord, You are aware of everything going on at work right now, and I pray that You provide wisdom to upper management, they are the ones who need our support and understanding during this time of change. Lord, I also ask that You make Your presence known to those effected by these changes – draw them closer to Your side as we go through this turbulent time. Relationships have been built – it is hard to imagine the possibilities of separation. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Isaiah 43
Israel's Only Savior
1 But now, this is what the LORD says—
he who created you, O Jacob,
he who formed you, O Israel:
"Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
I have summoned you by name; you are mine.

2 When you pass through the waters,
I will be with you;
and when you pass through the rivers,
they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire,
you will not be burned;
the flames will not set you ablaze.

3 For I am the LORD, your God,
the Holy One of Israel, your Savior;
I give Egypt for your ransom,
Cush [a] and Seba in your stead.

4 Since you are precious and honored in my sight,
and because I love you,
I will give men in exchange for you,
and people in exchange for your life.

5 Do not be afraid, for I am with you;
I will bring your children from the east
and gather you from the west.

6 I will say to the north, 'Give them up!'
and to the south, 'Do not hold them back.'
Bring my sons from afar
and my daughters from the ends of the earth-

7 everyone who is called by my name,
whom I created for my glory,
whom I formed and made."

8 Lead out those who have eyes but are blind,
who have ears but are deaf.

9 All the nations gather together
and the peoples assemble.
Which of them foretold this
and proclaimed to us the former things?
Let them bring in their witnesses to prove they were right,
so that others may hear and say, "It is true."

10 "You are my witnesses," declares the LORD,
"and my servant whom I have chosen,
so that you may know and believe me
and understand that I am he.
Before me no god was formed,
nor will there be one after me.

11 I, even I, am the LORD,
and apart from me there is no savior.

12 I have revealed and saved and proclaimed—
I, and not some foreign god among you.
You are my witnesses," declares the LORD, "that I am God.

13 Yes, and from ancient days I am he.
No one can deliver out of my hand.
When I act, who can reverse it?"

Have a great day!!!

Following God

January 25, 2008

Follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness…

1 Timothy 6:11

O God, I want to put into practice each of these characteristics. Help me to flee from evil and focus on loving others, being patient and gentle. Amen.

<><

Paul's Charge to Timothy
11But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. 12Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses. 13In the sight of God, who gives life to everything, and of Christ Jesus, who while testifying before Pontius Pilate made the good confession, I charge you 14to keep this command without spot or blame until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15which God will bring about in his own time—God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords, 16who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see. To him be honor and might forever. Amen.

17Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. 18Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. 19In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.

20Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to your care. Turn away from godless chatter and the opposing ideas of what is falsely called knowledge, 21which some have professed and in so doing have wandered from the faith.
Grace be with you.

Some of you may know the history between me and Eric (James’ father). Long story short – he chose a very worldly road and I chose God. Eric has pretty much left us alone until this last summer. Eric has had a hard road for the last 6 months and has begun searching. Eric has been asking me questions about my beliefs and faith lately, so I have been directing him to speak with Larry Moeller. God told me that my involvement in this process would be limited, so I backed off. Eric called Larry last night.

O God, You know what I am feeling right now, and I pray that You bless me with Your peace. I want to pray for Eric, that his heart is softened and opens to Your loving truth. Lord, please help him and guide him through this process, draw him closer to You. Lord please give Larry the wisdom and discernment during dialogs with Eric, I know that Larry knows You and has a solid relationship with You. I am so thankful that Larry is willing to help Eric at this point in his life. Lord, please keep Your watchful eye on both of them. I trust You completely – Your will be done on earth as in heaven. In Jesus’ Precious Name. Amen.

Exhale. This is a really scary situation for me – but I accept God’s will for my life!!!!

Love you,

Salvation

January 28, 2008 – Monday

Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

Isaiah 1:18

Heavenly Father, may the gentle falling of fresh snow be a reminder to me of what You can do in my life. Amen.

<><

Lord, I am witnessing the great and wonderful things that You are doing in my life. You make all things possible and I am extremely grateful and thankful to receive such wonderful gifts. I am truly blessed by godly friends who honestly love and support me – who I learn Your ways from – I see Your Holy Spirit work through them and in them. I am in Awe of You – and then You love me so very much and You show me Your love in so many ways. I am encouraged and energized by all this, so that I may be used as an instrument to bring You honor and glory and further Your kingdom. In Jesus’ precious name. Amen.

Faith

January 29, 2008

He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.

Psalm 23:2-3

Lord, in quietness and strength may I trust in You when the times are dark and I feel no joy. How thankful I am for Your goodness and love. Amen.

I spoke with Eric last night – he did not want to wait until Saturday to come to church (Larry invited him for Saturday). I let him know that if he needed to – call Larry and just talk with each other. God is granting me His peace during this time, I am not as stressed out about the “possibilities” as I was not rejoicing that God is drawing him closer, and Eric is responding to His call. I am now looking at this from God’s perspective and the opportunities that He will be providing Eric to bring Glory to God. Eric will have a very interesting testimony, and will bring passion to his relationship with God. God’s perspective moves mountains, and my initial reaction was very human. I am so thankful that God granted me a sneak peek for what He has in store.

Psalm 23
A psalm of David.
1 The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.

2 He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,

3 he restores my soul.
He guides me in paths of righteousness
for his name's sake.

4 Even though I walk
through the valley of the shadow of death, [a]
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.

5 You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.

6 Surely goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD
forever.

AMEN!!!!

Faithfullness

January 30, 2008 – Wednesday

Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and for ever.

Hebrews 13:8

In a changing world, I give You thanks for Your Word that never changes. Amen.

<><

Thank You so very much my Awesome Heavenly Father for providing everything that I could possibly need. You are the Solid Rock in which I stand, and depend. The consistency, dependability and stability that comes from You is a blessing in itself – thank You for being who You are. You are truly Amazing and Wonderful!!!! I love You!!! Amen.

God's Strengthen

February 1, 2008 – Friday

I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. I can do all things through Christ which stengtheneth me.

Philippians 4:11, 13

Teach me to be content with what I have, whether in plenty or in want. Amen.

<><

God has blessed me with what I currently have, materially, emotionally, spiritually, financially, etc. I know that all things come from Him, with His perfect timing. With this knowledge, I am so very thankful and appreciate all these lovely things in my life – for the simple fact that God put them there – then of course I love these gifts for what they bring. My boys are a big beautiful blessing that I tend to love without end, the car I drive – has run well and protected us, the friendships and opportunities to fellowship growing together, the trials that God uses to prune me, and on and on. There are not a whole lot of things that God has not provided already – but if the desires of my heart were just handed to me without God – then I don’t want it!!!!

I am really inspired by being able to accomplish all things through Christ – please do not allow fear to get a foothold in your heart. Take that bull by the horns and do what God has designed you to do!!! Please do not waste the wonderful person God has created by such a silly things as fear!!! (I am talking to myself right now – believe it or not)

Love you all for the support and love that you have brought to my life – I really appreciate it.

Love

February 2, 2008 – Saturday

Charity suffereth long, and is kind…rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity never faileth.

1 Corinthians 13: 4, 6-8

Lord, give me a loving heart today as I practice patience, kindness, and truthfulness. Amen.

I was at Bible study last night, and the speaker said something that caught my attention “the NIV seems to loose something compared to the King James version” – this has opened up a whole new realm for me – I think I need another Bible to go with the one I already have.

Love NIV
1If I speak in the tongues[a] of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames,[b] but have not love, I gain nothing.

4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

8Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. 11When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. 12Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

13And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

1 Corinthians 13 King James
1Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

2And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

3And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

4Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,

5Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;

6Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;

7Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

8Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

9For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.

10But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.

11When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

12For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

13And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

Wisdom

February 3, 2008 – Sunday

Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in they latter end.

Proverbs 19:20

Father, help me to be open to Your counsel and instruction, as I long for wisdom. Amen.

<><

Someone asked me on Friday night - When was the last time I was quiet and still to listen to God? In all honesty, it has been a while and I have had a growing craving for it. I am surrounded by wonderful friends that God has provided to help me grow in Him, fellowship and support – but there is really no substitute for His stillness. I urge you to find time today – with all the busyness that surrounds us like a tornado – to just be still and wait on God!!!

I love you all and thank each of you for the love and support you have shown me!!!!

Love One Another

February 4, 2008 – Monday

Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.

Romans 13:8

Help me to love others as I love myself, doing no wrong to anyone. Amen.

<><

There are so many people that are easy to love, it is the ones that we don’t necessarily get along with are the ones that we need to approach. We really need to get out of our comfort zone and spread God’s Good News!!!! I encourage you to talk with someone that you don’t know – or you are acquainted with but don’t necessarily get along with.

Let’s take this leap of faith – together!!!

Love you!!!!

Righteousness

February 5, 2008 – Tuesday

Therefore hath the Lord recompensed me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in His eyesight…With the pure thou wilt show thyself pure.

Psalm 18: 24, 26

Lord, I desire Your Spirit to live within my heart. Show me my sins, so that I may change my ways and be clean in Your sight. Amen.

<><

We fail in so many ways through out the day, one of the differences that I have noticed is God has a tendency to reveal all the stuff I was doing wrong without even realizing what I was actually doing. I may say or do something that may be received in the incorrect manner I had intended – God shows me that I need to go back and make amends. As He does this He is disciplining me too.

O Father, reveal to me the sins of today, show me what You require to rectify the consequences of my actions. Lord, I know that sometimes people need to see one of Your children make mistakes and then handle the issue Your way. I am also thankful for the love and discipline that You show me as we deal with my sins, together. I love you so very much!!! In Jesus’ Precious Name. Amen.

Joy

February 6, 2008 – Wednesday

For this day is holy unto our Lord…for the joy of the Lord is Your strength.

Nehemiah 8:10

Let my heart be filled with joy today, as I meditate on Your goodness. Amen.

Nehemiah 8
1 all the people assembled as one man in the square before the Water Gate. They told Ezra the scribe to bring out the Book of the Law of Moses, which the LORD had commanded for Israel.

2 So on the first day of the seventh month Ezra the priest brought the Law before the assembly, which was made up of men and women and all who were able to understand. 3 He read it aloud from daybreak till noon as he faced the square before the Water Gate in the presence of the men, women and others who could understand. And all the people listened attentively to the Book of the Law.

4 Ezra the scribe stood on a high wooden platform built for the occasion. Beside him on his right stood Mattithiah, Shema, Anaiah, Uriah, Hilkiah and Maaseiah; and on his left were Pedaiah, Mishael, Malkijah, Hashum, Hashbaddanah, Zechariah and Meshullam.

5 Ezra opened the book. All the people could see him because he was standing above them; and as he opened it, the people all stood up. 6 Ezra praised the LORD, the great God; and all the people lifted their hands and responded, "Amen! Amen!" Then they bowed down and worshiped the LORD with their faces to the ground.

7 The Levites—Jeshua, Bani, Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodiah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan and Pelaiah—instructed the people in the Law while the people were standing there. 8 They read from the Book of the Law of God, making it clear [a] and giving the meaning so that the people could understand what was being read.

9 Then Nehemiah the governor, Ezra the priest and scribe, and the Levites who were instructing the people said to them all, "This day is sacred to the LORD your God. Do not mourn or weep." For all the people had been weeping as they listened to the words of the Law.

10 Nehemiah said, "Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is sacred to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength."

11 The Levites calmed all the people, saying, "Be still, for this is a sacred day. Do not grieve."

12 Then all the people went away to eat and drink, to send portions of food and to celebrate with great joy, because they now understood the words that had been made known to them.

13 On the second day of the month, the heads of all the families, along with the priests and the Levites, gathered around Ezra the scribe to give attention to the words of the Law. 14 They found written in the Law, which the LORD had commanded through Moses, that the Israelites were to live in booths during the feast of the seventh month 15 and that they should proclaim this word and spread it throughout their towns and in Jerusalem: "Go out into the hill country and bring back branches from olive and wild olive trees, and from myrtles, palms and shade trees, to make booths"-as it is written. [b]

16 So the people went out and brought back branches and built themselves booths on their own roofs, in their courtyards, in the courts of the house of God and in the square by the Water Gate and the one by the Gate of Ephraim. 17 The whole company that had returned from exile built booths and lived in them. From the days of Joshua son of Nun until that day, the Israelites had not celebrated it like this. And their joy was very great.

18 Day after day, from the first day to the last, Ezra read from the Book of the Law of God. They celebrated the feast for seven days, and on the eighth day, in accordance with the regulation, there was an assembly.

It is interesting to hear the rest of the story!!!

Our Intentions

February 7, 2008 – Thursday

For the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.

1 Samuel 16:7

May my thoughts and intentions today be pleasing in Your sight. Amen.

<><

O Father, please let me see the people around me the way You see them. I know that sometimes I have trouble seeing what is inside, sometimes really deep inside, and I know that I stuggle with a few people that You have placed within my path to help demonstrate a lesson. Lord, help me not to jump to conclusions with these people and have me not be judgemental. I know that through time and interaction, my view of these people will change. Please help me not to be so narrow minded and blinded by my own human nature. In Jesus' Perfect Name. Amen.

Love you all!!!

Guarding Our Tongue

February 8, 2008 – Friday

Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. For if they fall, the one will left up his fellow.

Ecclesiastes 4: 9-10

Show me a friend in need, so that I may help him today. Amen.

<><

Ephesians:

29Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.

I encourage you to ask God to send you someone today that needs encouragement – share with them – share Jesus with them!!!

Love you!!!

Seek Him

February 9, 2008 – Saturday

If…thou shalt seek the Lord thy God, thou shalt find Him, if thou seek Him with all thy heart and with all thy soul.

Deuteronomy 4:29

Never let me stray from Your sight, Father. I long to be near You. Help me to serve You with all my heart, soul, and mind. Amen.

<><

O God, I know that I can not serve You enough!! There have been many times this life just seems to get in the way of me being still and communing with You. I know that You are faithful to me, no matter what seems to be rushing me away. There are times where in I don’t even realize what is happening until it is too late. Lord, help me to guard my time with You, to help me grow, to hear Your voice, to feel Your presence. In Jesus Name. Amen.

Enemies

February 11, 2008 – Monday

Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.

Matthew 5:44

Father, I pray for those who don’t like me, that you would bless them and surround them with Your love. Amen.

<><

O Heavenly Father, Draw them closer to You God – I give You the situation – please have the Holy Spirit guide me through the relationship so that You will receive all the honor and glory!!!! Lord, please soften their heart and open their eyes to accept Your Truth…but also make me alert to the lesson that You may be teaching me through this relationship. God help me to realize that I may be growing in You. In Jesus Precious Name. Amen.

Judging Others

February 10, 2008 – Sunday

First cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.

Matthew 7:5

Lord, help me to carefully avoid doing those things which disturb me in others. Amen.

<><

Matthew 7
Judging Others
1"Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

3"Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.

6"Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and then turn and tear you to pieces.

Interesting isn’t it?

Love

February 12, 2008 – Tuesday

And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

1 Corinthians 13:13

Father, give me faith that moves mountains, hope that reaches to the heavens, and love that never ends. Amen.

<><

1 Corinthians 13
Love

Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

13And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Oh Heavenly Father, You have placed a lot of food to digest in these few passages, and a need for personal reflection too. God, please open my eyes and heart to those around me, help me to realize how my thoughts, actions, and words affect others. Lord, please forgive me for the times wherein my tongue gets away from me, and I say something so stupid. Sometimes, I am not mindful of those watching and I should always be on my best behavior. Lord, I pray that You will grant me the tools necessary to bring You honor and glory in everything that I do. In Jesus’ Precious Name. Amen.

Love One Another

February 14, 2008 – Thursday

Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

1 John 4:7-8

Help me to be loving and kind today, especially to those who mean the most to me. Amen.

<><

I remember the hardest thing for me to grasp as a new believer was Jesus’ unconditional love for me. I knew it from an academic stand point but I did not know it in my heart. I remember exactly the moment that I actually felt His presence and understood all the love He has for me. It was like floodgates but so much more moving and powerful and yet so gentle and comforting. Those who believe probably can recall their moments with Jesus. I know that after that moment, my Savior blessed me with the Holy Spirit and They began working within me. I can remember where God found me, and I am so glad that He did, and I can’t imagine not sharing this love with others!!! I can’t seem to contain it!!!

1 John 4:19:

19We love because he first loved us.

Have you been living with Jesus’ love for you contained? Please let Him out – He will do amazing things within you – and He will bless you.

I love you all!!!!

Speaking in Love

February 15, 2008 – Friday

Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in Thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my Redeemer.

Psalm 19:14

Let me speak kind words, Lord, so that I may hear kind echoes. Amen.

<><

OK, so I am having mixed emotions on this one. I am a firm believer of being kind and considerate, but not at the expense of Truth. Some of you may have read “Grace and Truth Paradox” by Randy Alcorn. In this book he explains that we must incorporate both of these aspects into our lives – if we are truly going to be good representatives of Christ. One of the illustrations he uses is a bird – one wing is Grace and the other is Truth – you need both in order to fly. I know that balancing the two is difficult and God has presented situations wherein I pray feverishly before I even think about opening my mouth. I don’t want anything that I may say be misconstrued or misunderstood, but I don’t want those words to be harsh or unloving. Interesting, isn’t it!!!!!

Oh Heavenly Father, You are just Magnificent in all that You do. I know that there are times wherein I have not guarded my tongue and created a mess. God please help me to deliver Your messages the way You intend them to be heard. You are so very loving – even when I am being disciplined – and I do not want to misrepresent You in any way. I want You to receive all the honor and glory!!!! Lord, please let me just rest in Your presence as I continue to hunger for more of You. In Jesus Precious Name. Amen.

Love you all!!!!

Prayer

February 16, 2008 – Saturday

And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgement.

Philippians 1:9

Today, Lord, make me sensitive and alert to the needs You would have me see. Amen.

Thanksgiving and Prayer
3I thank my God every time I remember you. 4In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy 5because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, 6being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

7It is right for me to feel this way about all of you, since I have you in my heart; for whether I am in chains or defending and confirming the gospel, all of you share in God's grace with me. 8God can testify how I long for all of you with the affection of Christ Jesus.

9And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, 10so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, 11filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God.

Is there someone in your life that needs you to pray for them right now – please ask God to reveal those people to you – so that you may participate in their growth in Jesus Christ!!!! I think I should pray this for myself too.
